David Howell PPRSMA

I limit tuition these days to an annual appearance at Dedham Hall, in Essex, not least because I’m too busy painting.  However, as always, the emphasis is on working outside where possible and the development of painting through sketching and observation and understanding that painting is about creating something that’s good to look at rather than a perfect copy of what we see around us.  All media is acceptable and my aim is that everyone should both enjoy themselves and feel that they have made progress with their painting.

Barges, Pin Mill   Oil 16 x 16”

Dedham is ideally situated on the Essex and Suffolk border with easy access to rivers and creeks, boatyards and general East Anglian landscape.  Favourite painting spots include Pin Mill with its Thames barges as well as other rivers, creeks and harbours and of course Dedham Vale where Constable painted and worked.  Dedham Hall has a big studio as a base and Wendy & Jim are great hosts.  This course is always very popular, so book early.
