David Howell PPRSMA

I don’t do a lot of teaching, because normally I’m too busy keeping up with gallery demands and commissions but I do enjoy working with a group of enthusiastic painters and this year I will be back at Dedham Hall and Staithes Art School. These courses are invariably over-subsrcibed well ahead of the scheduled dates and if there are no spaces left, you might have to go on the waiting list in case someone drops out or alternatively make a reservation for 2019.  I’m happy to deal with all the main media and my approach to teaching is to try and work with everyone individually, as well as heading up group discussions and demonstrating when required.  We work outside as much as possible and my aim is that everyone should both enjoy themselves and feel that they have made progress .

Pin Mill moorings - Oil on board 8 x 10”

Pin Mill is on the banks of the River Orwell in Suffolk and is a favourite spot to visit during the Dedham week.  Thames Barges are regular visitors and there’s always a collection of other vessels, either being repaired at the local boatyards or perhaps never going anywhere else ever again.  Great painting territory.  For more detail go to www.dedhamhall.co.uk or phone 01206-323027

DEDHAM HALL July 21st - 28th 2018

STAITHES ART SCHOOL May 17th - 20th

Chrurch Street Cottages - Staithes  Oil on board 8 x 10”

Staithes is an ideal location for painters.  Whichever direction you head in, there’s invariably something interesting to paint within a few minutes walk and the village retains its character as a working fishing village without the encroachment of marinas and plastic boats.  There’s a big studio to work in if it’s wet but the virtually traffic free location is ideal for en plein air painters.  For more information :- www.staithesgallery.co.uk or phone contact is 01947-841840
